Well since it's been awhile since I blogged I had this nagging urge to type something so here goes. Well lets see Taylor and I are still enjoying are time here in Alaska, we try to get up to the mountains or out and about when we can. We have explored Hatchers Pass outside of Palmer, went to the Independence Gold Mine, have experiencedthe Saturday Market in Anchorage spent a few hours at the gym spent Money to buy the people back home the tacky Alaska souvenirs but most of all I have gotten to spend time with my amazing daughter. All the time spent with Taylor has lead me to two conclusions.......I can't be a stay at home mom when it's 24/7 and I'm gettin fixed one kid is way more than enough for me...lol. So I'm only partly joking. To be honest if I had the money and the local knowledge staying home all summer with her would be awesome, but we are on a budget and still don't know enough about the area know where to go. But hopefully this weekend we are going to venture into Anchorage just her and I go to the zoo maybe the water park who knows we will just have to see. Oh my dad and his girlfriend Pam are going to come up sometime soon and see us so I am totally stoked for that. I know that the moment I see him at the airport I am going to cry like the biggest baby ever but what can I say I miss my daddy. Mom is supposed to come up to and the crying that will be done when I see here will make Taylor's biggest fits seem like a whimper. I am such a mommas girl. I didn't realize till I was 3500 miles away how much I miss her. I miss everyone really bad but not being able to see my momma whenever I want is really hard, and talking to her on Skype isn't the same thing. Yes I can see her face but I can hug her and she can't hug me. Hell I'm starting to tear up now. Big ol baby Misha so stinking emotional. I love the summer here its really amazing days are long and cool enough with the right type of breeze that you don't get to warm and if ya do the breeze will be by shortly to cool ya off. So other than that we have a pretty boring life just me and my kiddo exploring enjoying this wonderland of new things.

Well it's been awhile since I posted anything here, so here goes. Today we went hiking at Thunderbird falls. It was a nice little hike 2 miles roundtrip. Saw a decent little waterfall, then hiked down by the creek and the was nice and cool down there. Then after that we went to Eklutna lake it's a lake in the mountains carved out by a glacier I'm guessing it was amazing, I took a number of pictures and made a absoutley amazing panaromic shoot you can go to my shutterfly page and see it if ya want. I will give you the link if ya need it just ask. Then we did a little bit of shopping and came home. This past weekend we went to the Saturday market which was kinda like a state fair but with only vendors it was pretty neat cause it was all Alaska based stuff. Spent way to much money but got some neat stuff to send home. Other than that not a whole lot going on. I am now officially working and Taylor and I try to get out on the weekends to explore or hike or whatever just so that we aren't stuck inside. I can't wait till I can go do some of the more touristy stuff (I know I'm a dork) I want to go see Denali, I want to go whale watching, and all the fun stuff. So as the summer progresses so will our exploring. Well lets see nothing new is going on. We are just hanging out for now. We got our clothes put in the cabin got some dressers and re-arranged the bed room to the point that I want it to look. Just waiting for the electricity to get turned on in the cabin so that Taylor and I will have a place of our own instead of having to share a bedroom with an 11 year old. Other than that just waiting till May 8th that's when I will officially be working and receiving a paycheck. Other than that noting new. All right well I knew that Alaska has more reported earthquakes than almost anywhere else but for the most part they are small and really only felt by the measuring equipment used to detect them . Well today we must have been the detection devise. LOL A little after noon Tay and I were sitting up in the bedroom getting lists made so we could run to Wal-mart and I heard something and felt something at first I thought it was the door downstairs shutting but then I thought wait it doesn’t that hard then I saw that the little pop up laundry hamper was shaking. That’s right ladies and gentlemen our first earthquake. Turns out it was a 4.7 centered 18 miles SW of us. It lasted all of 5 seconds I think barely enough for me to register what just happened but still enough to remind me oh WOW. Tay on the other hand was totally un-phased by said event she never even knew bout it till I got on the phone calling mom and dad back in Oklahoma to say OMG OMG do you know what just happened. LMAO It kinda rattled the house a little and sounded really weird but that was all nothing more. We are all good no problems not scared just amazed. First a Volcano erupts then an earthquake…….WOW what next. Bring it on BABY! Well last night Taylor had her first sleep over so tonight she is exhausted. Well since she was taken care of for the day Kara, TJ and I went up to Hatchers Pass to go snow machining. Well it was a blast we were way up in the mountains. It was beautiful. I had a blast. I am now suffering from a level of wind burn that I have never had before but it was worth it. I also managed to roll the snow machine while I was trying to stop it. I'm ok I actually came up laughing because all the miles of on the edge of a cliff riding we were doing and I manage to roll the machine on flat ground in front of a group of about 8 guys. I'm good I know. The machine rolled two and a half times and I rolled about 3. But it didn't roll on me. Looks like all those years of gymnastics paid off. Well just had dinner and Taylor is now asleep on my lap cause they stayed up till 4am watching movies and playing games. So I am going to sit here and watch some tv and probably pass out! Enjoy the pictures theres a lot of white in them...lol Well this week we have ventured out just Taylor and myself and haven't gotten lost. GO ME! We have found Wal-mart, Target, Sears, MCD's, Dairy Queen, the library and other stuff. Its warming up to above freezing lots of sun so the roads are clear and driving is not a problem. I really do like it up here so I can't wait to see what the summer brings. Taylor has been missing Oklahoma people this week but we are trying to make that easier by letting her talk to people on the webcam. Really nothing new just wanted to fill ya in on our life and the fun. Well here we are trying to get used to this very much unoklahoman cold. Its been in the high 20's most of this week all the while Oklahoma is having a summer streak. I will say at least the wind hasn't been blowing. The cold isn't that bad without the wind. I have ventured out twice by myself and didn't get lost but then again its not like I am going that far. Well not much has happened. Got a tour of Wasilla today and have plans to get out and do some stuff over the weekend. Other than that nothing new. Just wanted to say hey! So we had the talk with Taylor today about if you see a bear or a moose they are not friendly animals you don't go running up to them. Well needless to say now she wants to go back to Pryor because she thinks that a bear is going to eat her. So now we have had to convince her that they aren't going to get into the house and as long as you don't try to play with them they should leave you alone. Its kinda cute but I know that she is scared because she told me that she was afraid of the bad monsters in Alaska and when I asked her what monsters she was talking about she said the bears. The trip was good there was no problems. Our first day was good we got to see the start of the Iditarod, Taylor got to play in more snow than she has ever seen and I got to go snowmobiling. Fun times were had by all! We are ready to go. Well the time has come. We leave tomorrow at 3:25pm. The adventure will begin and we will be off. I'm excited anxious nervous sad and ready. I can't wait to see what comes along but I know I will miss all of this here. My family is a huge support system and I am leaving them behind but I have good friends to watch over me in Wasilla. I will update as i go Well two weeks till we leave and tomorrow we are having pictures done. The closer we get the more excited I get, Taylor asks are we going to Alaska almost everyday. Other than that nothing new just going to the gym and playin with the kiddos. Oh and lovin my new laptop!!! Well bought luggage today. Got some pretty nice sweaters to keep me warm since all my stuff burned up in the fire. Can't wait to wear all of it I love new clothes. Well here it is 3 days before my last day at work and what happens, my house burns to the ground. Yea you read that right gone everything in my 29 years is gone but me my mother my daughter and my nephew all got out of the house and thats really all that matters. I put up a few pictures of the fire that I took feel free to take a look at my userpics Well my time at work is dwindleing, and it is nice this Saturday is my last day. I like the sound of that I have given my two weeks notice. Things are starting to fall into place towards the March move. Ok so a month or so ago I'm driving home and see a falling star, I decide to make a wish. I wished that my life would fall into place better. Well next day my friends in Alaska offer me a job, room and board are covered vehicle covered pay is enough to make it. So within hours I decide that Taylor and I will be off to Alaska sometime before May. Well that has now changed and we will be leaving the first week of March and can't wait. |
